Thank you for attending our show or watching from home. We are thrilled to be on stage and share this holiday tradition with you. Please don’t be shy with your claps, hoots, and hollers - the dancers LOVE to hear it from the stage!
It is Christmas Eve at the Stahlmbaum’s home. Children dance and enjoy a magical show with life-size dolls by toy maker Drosselmeyer. Clara receives a beautiful Nutcracker that her brother Fritz breaks. After a quick repair, the night gets late and the party dissipates. Clara goes to bed with her Nutcracker tucked under her arm. When the clock strikes midnight, she wakes to discover large mice in the room. Clara tries to escape, but the room transforms into a Mouse Kingdom. A large Nutcracker appears with an army to protect Clara! The Rat King and his army of mice fight the Nutcracker and his troops. Just as the Rat King seems to be winning, Clara slaps the Rat King with her ballet slipper, defeating him. Clara cries and her tears bring the Snow Queen to life! She takes her to the Winter Wonderland where she meets the Snow Queen’s snowflakes.
Clara then travels to the Magic Castle in her sleigh, where the angels stand guard. Clara meets the Sugar Plum Fairy and she invites her to stay to enjoy performances in her honor, as a thank you for defeating the Rat King. Dancers from all over the world and the Waltzing Flowers all entertain Clara in the Magic Castle. After all of the dancers return for one final dance and then leave, Clara wonders…was it really all a dream?
Kristen would like to thank Mister Casey for his choreography and ballet training; Jon DeMone for his choreography, rehearsal support and artistic direction; Cael for stage managing the show; Mike McConaughey and the Newberg High School Theater Department for ROCKING tech and site support; Bella Luce Photography for capturing the magic of the show; the parents of the cast members for volunteering backstage; the sponsors for supporting our show so we can keep costs down for the performers and the community who attends; Stephanie Thornton and Sarah Sauro for being my partners in production and staffing the volunteers; the amazing Performing Company Booster Club for SO MANY THINGS - decorating and running the lobby, volunteering, and the all-around heavy lifting they do to make our dancers feel loved; the cast and leads for working extra hard to make the show a reality every year; my parents for their unending support of my adventures (and this show); my love, Francisco Stoller for always being my rock, believing in me, supporting me, and loving on our kids; and lastly to Vada, Riley, and Stella for their patience, love, humor, and support - I will always strive to make your life better and our community stronger.
